Keep On Pushing

The music grind looks easy when you watch some artists on the television.  Some artists are in the right place at the right time, it seems, and they get signed and sell a ton of records before they turn 21.  On the flip side, some artists finally release their debut album after grinding in the music business for several years…but then the record flops.

No matter how long you’ve been in the music game, it honestly doesn’t give you more of a reason to be more respected by people.  You could have been a terrible, ego-centric artist for several years, and that could be the exact reason why you didn’t “make it” yet.  At the same time, some of these same kinds of artists end up being successful fairly quickly.

For all artists at various points in their music career, I say to you to never stop what you’re doing.  If you truly believe this is what you should be doing, then continue to fight for your dream.  For me, I’ve been involved with music for a long time, and just released my debut album a few years ago.  I’ve been told by peers and other artists that my style won’t sell, or they simply ignore my efforts.  I’ve never been the one to have someone else dictate my direction in music.  So these people haven’t done anything for me but motivate me even more to keep going.

There are many artists out there that are doing well on the grind within the underground scene, and I salute them.  Their music, in some cases, isn’t really my cup of tea.  But that doesn’t diminish the fact that they are out and about, making an effort to make their goals a reality.  There are enough people on this Earth where there is a fan base for ALL of us.  It’s up to us to continue the grind and do what we do best to reach those supporters.

The internet makes it seem like everybody is doing music…which is true.  Many people are doing music for the wrong reasons, and it’s not truly inside of them to deliver amazing songs that can affect a listener’s life in a great way.  But if you are one of those artist that don’t mind being honest with yourself, pushing yourself to improve with each song, and most importantly, aren’t afraid to be YOURSELF and ORIGINAL, then you are the ones I hope to motivate to keep going.  Just don’t give up….because you epitomize the art of music and make it something that is valuable to the entire world.
